DATE: 2/22/01 CONTACT: Alan Quinn, (864) 859-4364 WRITER: Diane Palmer, (864) 656-4741 Professional rodeo coming to Garrison Arena March 2-3 CLEMSON -- Come see top International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA) cowboys and cowgirls at Clemson University's T. Ed Garrison Livestock Arena on March 2 and 3. They will compete for prize money and championship points at the Spring Roundup 2001. The main events will be bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, cowgirl barrel racing, calf roping, team roping and bull riding. Rodney "Shotgun" Gaston will be on hand with his two new Brahma bulls, trick mule and twin miniature Roman riding ponies and a comedy clown car act. Also on hand will be bucking bulls and horses from Ken Treadway's champion string of animals. You may even get to see 50-year-old Betty Roper of Oktaha, Oklahoma, 1999 IPRA cowgirls barrel racing world champion. This was her fourth IPRA championship for barrel racing. There will also be a special patriotic flag grand entry presentation at both performances. "The rodeo last March was our most successful ever with great attendance and top contestants," said Charles Williams, arena manager. "The IPRA sanctioning will again provide top contestants and the promoter, Allan Quinn continues to provide quality entertainment acts which are crowd pleasers." Reserved seating is $14. General admission is $12 for adults and $5 for children 12 years and under. Advanced tickets can be purchased at Rogers Stereo Upstate locations and Duffy's Western Shop in Seneca. The event starts at 8 each evening and is being sponsored by Easy Bend Farms of Easley. The Roundup is sanctioned by the International Pro Rodeo Association and operates under its rules.
