Dec. 6     First Friday Nature Walk.
           Meet at the Red Caboose for an informative walk with
           naturalist and Clemson University Professor David  Bradshaw.
           Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate dress. Walk will
           generally last between one and two hours.

Dec. 7     Sprouting Communities: Seasonal Plants and Crafts
           Holiday Wreath Sale.
           Sprouting Communities: Seasonal plants and crafts is a
           horticultural business operated by students from Seneca
           Middle School who are developing life skills while earning
           money. This program is sponsored by Sprouting Wings at the
           South Carolina Botanical Garden and Communities in Schools
           in Oconee County.
           1. NATURAL: just greenery - $15.
           2. TRADITIONAL: greenery with a bow - $20.
           3. ELEGANCE: cones and holly berries with a velvet bow -    
              $25
           4. FRUIT and SPICE: dried fruit, cinnamon sticks, and a
              raffia bow - $30.

Dec. 8     Annual Holiday Open House.
           Enjoy holiday cheer throughout the Garden! Refreshments
           will be served at each site.

Dec. 7,14, Heritage Holidays at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center.
     & 21  Holiday storytelling and music for the whole family.
           Refreshments provided.

Dec. 6-8   Open House Weekend Sale at Betsy Campbell Carriage House
           Coffee and Gift Shop. 
           Clemson University (CU) employees and South Carolina
           Botanical Garden (SCBG) volunteers receive a 20% discount
           storewide. Free coffee, cider and cookies all weekend.
           The rest of the month, get a 10% CU employee and SCBG
           volunteer discount. Special discount fun-drawings, too!

Dec. 10    Wreath Making Workshop. A long-standing holiday tradition
           at the SCBG is our Wreath Making Workshop. Join SCBG
           staff members Christine Drais and Carey Burriss and
           create a long-lasting fresh wreath for your front door or
           over your fireplace. Using fresh holiday greenery and
           dried materials, you will learn the secrets to making a
           gorgeous wreath.
           $40 fee, includes all materials.
           4:30 - 7 p.m.

     The Fran Hanson Discovery Center will feature a variety of trees
donated by local growers and decorated by Master Gardeners, garden
clubs and civic organizations. Clay Dog Studio artists Terry Culbreth
and Marsha Langston are the Featured Artists of the Month. Some of
their work is available at the Carriage House Gift Shop.
     The Bob Campbell Geology Museum will be decorated for the
holidays. Hand-made natural mineral ornaments are available at the
Museum Gift Shop.
     The Betsy Campbell Carriage House Coffee & Gift Shop has a perfect
gift for everyone. Special holiday hours and discounts too.
     The Hunt Family Cabin (ca. 1826 log cabin) will feature
gingerbread made over an open hearth and hot cider. Take a festive
hayride through the Garden and sing holiday songs.
     The Hanover House is a fully furnished 1716 French Hugenot home.
It will be decorated and open for touring with Clemson University
students dressed in period costumes.
     Carriage House Coffee & Gift Shop holiday hours and sales event.
Find the perfect gift for that special someone. We've got gardening
books and tools, candles, kid's toys and learning games, local food
products like jams and honey, wind chimes, and art products by local
artists. Remember, the third Saturday of every month is FRIENDS of the
Garden Member Day!  We do catering too! Gift certificates available.
     The Garden is on the Clemson University campus at the intersection
of Highway 76 and Perimeter Road. It encompasses 295 acres of gardens,
streams and woodlands, and is open year-round from sunrise to sunset,
free of charge.
