"Forest landowners, farmers, hunters, outdoor enthusiasts and those just interested in wildlife will find this course beneficial," said Bob Franklin, area Extension agent in Colleton County. Master Wildlifer will offer 21 hours of instruction in seven three-hour sessions broadcast live from Clemson University from 7 to 10 p.m. each Tuesday from Feb. 4 to March 18. Instructors will provide an introduction to the basics of wildlife management and several segments on managing major game species such as white-tailed deer, wild turkey, quail, rabbit and dove. Other sessions will show: how to manage aquatic resources for waterfowl, wetlands and farm ponds; how to manage for wildlife diversity; and how to develop wildlife recreation opportunities. The early registration fee is $85 for individuals and $125 for two family members for all seven sessions. Payment is due by Jan. 10. The late fee is $105 for individuals and $155 for two family members. Fees will also cover the cost of manuals, speaker notes and refreshments. Field trips may be offered in some counties. Participants who attend five of the seven sessions will receive a certificate and a Master Wildlifer cap. Local viewing sites will be in the counties of Abbeville, Kershaw, Berkeley, Chesterfield, Pickens, Richland, Horry, Edgefield, Florence, Georgetown, Greenville, Hampton, Clarendon, Newberry, Orangeburg, Colleton and York.
