Sue Hovey, Extension agent in Union County and Libby Hoyle, Extension nutritionist and food safety specialist, received the award from the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) recently in Kansas City, Mo., for their Your Day "Food For Thought" radio program on whole grains. The program aired July 18, 2001 on S.C. Educational Radio. The program reached approximately 20,000 people and received the most call-in questions and after-air e-mail requests for the 2001 year, except for one other program. The program was also first in the Southern region of NEAFCS. Your Day is a Clemson University daily radio program that airs Monday - Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. "Food for Thought" is broadcast on Wednesdays beginning at 12:30 p.m. The award was sponsored by the American Income Life Insurance Company.
