"We'll have two separate meetings with identical programs designed to update producers on ways to solve production problems," said DeWitt Gooden, Extension tobacco specialist. The first meeting will be Nov. 14 at the Schoolhouse Restaurant in Scranton on U.S. Highway 52. The second will be Nov. 15 at the Pee Dee Federal Bank in Mullins on U.S. Highway 76. Both programs will begin with registration at 9 a.m. and adjourn around 1:30 p.m. Each program begins with a session looking at quality issues. Speakers will also cover diseases, including tomato spotted wilt virus and how to manage it agronomically. The program also includes a look at insect management, management of greenhouse plants, the latest information on the outlook for tobacco and an update on the tobacco buyout program. Lunch will be served at 12:35 p.m. For more information contact DeWitt Gooden at (843) 669-1912; ext. 203, or e-mail him at dgooden@clemson.edu. END
