DATE: 10/5/04 CONTACT: Donna Arterburn , (864) 656-0605 WRITER: Susan Bedingfield , (864) 656-3876 Meet the author – Billy Kennedy to speak at Clemson CLEMSON – Clemson University will present author Billy Kennedy on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Strom Thurmond Institute at a Meet the Author presentation. Kennedy, a journalist in Belfast , Ireland , will speak on his book “Women of the Frontier.” Other books written by Kennedy include “The Scots-Irish of the Carolinas .” Kennedy has done extensive research into the history of the Scots-Irish in the U.S. He is currently working on a television series with the British Broadcasting Company and American Educational Television. This is his eighth book. Kennedy shows the vital roles women played in the conquering of the American frontier. The book traces the lives of more than 20 women, from across the Southern and Midwestern frontier, who showed the tenacity, pragmatism and fortitude needed to survive during war, hardship and disaster. The lecture is free and open to the public. There will be a book signing hosted by the Clemson University Bookstore immediately following the lecture.
