 Gallery opening set for Oct. 1

CLEMSON – A photography exhibit that celebrates “Visions of the South” opens Oct. 1 at the South Carolina Botanical Garden . You are invited.

The event will be held at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center in the garden from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wine, cheese and crackers will be served. 

Photographs by C.J. Elfont and Peter Runge will be on display. The photographers will be present to answer questions and talk about their work.

“Visions of the South” includes photos of the Carolinas , Virginia and the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains .

Visitors are invited to wander through the other gallery rooms to see the permanent display of watercolors by Elizabeth Belser Fuller, and featured artists Alice Craig’s hand-woven garments and oil paintings by Susan Stepp.

Elfont and Runge’s photos will remain on display through the end of the year and into spring.

The garden is located on the Clemson University campus at the intersection of Highway 76 and Silas Pearman Blvd. It encompasses 295 acres of gardens, streams and woodlands, and is open year-round from sunrise to sunset, free of charge.
