First Friday Nature Walk – July 2
Meet at the Red Caboose for an informative walk with naturalist and Clemson University Professor David Bradshaw. Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate dress. Walks generally last between one and two hours.

Fee: Free
First Friday: 7 a.m.
Location: Meet at the Red Caboose Parking Area.

Gemstone Identification Class - July 12 – 16
Internationally recognized gemologist, Ben Smith, will teach this week-long class in which students learn about mineral properties and how different gemstones can be identified using this knowledge. Call (864) 656-4602 to register.

Fee: $75 per person for the week.
Mon.- Fri.: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily
Location: Hayden Conference Center in the S.C. Botanical Garden.

Third Saturday FRIENDS of the Garden Day – July 17
Friends of the Garden and Geology Museum may enjoy a free cup of coffee at the Garden Gift Shop on this day. Also, there is free admission today to the Campbell Geology Museum and free nature walks starting from the Fran Hanson Discovery Center at 10 a.m.

Blue Ridge Arts Council photography exhibit and watercolor painter Judy Taylor will be at the Discovery Center from noon to 2 p.m. to demonstrate their work while on exhibit during the month of July and August.

The Geology Museum is also open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the gift shop, located at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Discover Garden Yoga from 11 a.m. to noon at the Hayden Conference Center.

Third Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Location: S.C. Botanical Garden and Campbell Geology Museum.

Third Saturday Nature Walks – July 17
Join the South Carolina Botanical Garden staff and volunteers on these informative walks through the garden. Wear shoes suitable for walking on uneven terrain. Check web site www.clemson.edu/scbg for complete listing of walks.

Fee: FREE.
Saturday, 10 – 11 a.m.
Location: Fran Hanson Discovery Center.

Hatha Yoga: Saturday Mornings – 3,10,17,24, 31 - Ongoing
Join Anita Nunnelley for Hatha Yoga, a more gentle approach to movement. Nunnelley received her teacher training and experience from The Yoga and Ayurveda Center in Anniston, AL. She is also a Reiki and Ayurvedic practitioner. For specific questions or concerns about the course content, email Anita at gardenofzen@yahoo.com. Bring a yoga mat and towel.

Fee: $10 per class.
Saturday: 8 – 9:30 a.m.
Location: S.C. Botanical Garden Hayden Conference Center.

Beginning Yoga – Wednesdays – 7,14,21,28 - Ongoing
Beginning Yoga is a course for new yoga students or those who desire a review in basic practice. The class mission is to prepare the yoga student for a regular Flow Yoga practice. This is an introduction to vinyasa or ‘flow yoga’ designed to increase strength and flexibility. Breathing techniques will also be practiced. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat to practice on. Class limited to 18 students.
Fee: $10 per class.
Wednesdays: 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: S.C. Botanical Garden Hayden Conference Center.

Flow Yoga – Thursdays - 1,8,15,22 - Ongoing
Flow Yoga with Renee Gahan is a course ideal for beginner, intermediate and experienced yoga students. The class focus is on vinyasa or ‘flow yoga’ in addition to the ashtanga primary series of poses designed to increase strength and flexibility. Breathing techniques will also be practiced to reduce stress, induce relaxation and clarity of mind. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat to practice on. Class is limited to 18 students per session.

Fee: $10 per class.

Thursdays: 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: S.C. Botanical Garden Hayden Conference Center.


GARDEN HOURS OF OPERATION:
Discovery Center & Garden Gift Shop Hours: Mon.–Sat.,10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sun. 1-5 p.m.

Geology Museum Hours: Wed.-Sat., 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sun. 1-5 p.m. Admission: $3 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. Annual passes available.


The Garden is located on the Clemson University campus at the intersection of Highway 76 and Silas Pearman Blvd. It encompasses 295 acres of gardens, streams and woodlands, and is open year-round from sunrise to sunset, free of charge.
