First Friday Nature Walk – Sept. 3 Meet at the Red Caboose for an informative walk with naturalist and Clemson University Professor David Bradshaw. Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate dress. Walks generally last between one and two hours. Fee: Free 7 a.m. Location: Red Caboose Parking Area. Garden Spinners – Sept. 12 Meet Alice Craig along with the “Garden Spinners” at the Discovery Center .Craig is one of the Featured Artists for September and October and has invited members of the Garden Spinners to join her to demonstrate the art of spinning wool and other fibers to create hand woven garments, purses, afghans and more. Fee: Free Saturday: 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Location: Fran Hanson Discovery Center . Third Saturday FRIENDS of the Garden Day – Sept. 18 Also, discover Garden Yoga from 11 a.m. - noon at the Hayden Conference Center . Fee: Free Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Location: S.C. Botanical Garden and Campbell Geology Museum. Harvest Moon Hike – Sept. 28 A full moon in the fall is especially luminous, because of the moon's position relative to the horizon. Join naturalist Lisa Wagner on a night hike in the garden. Wear walking shoes, and clothing appropriate for walking in the woods. Fee: $9 per family (up to 5 family members) Friday: 7 - 9 p.m. Location: Discovery Center Parking Area. Hatha Yoga: Saturday Mornings – 4,11,18,25, - Ongoing Join Anita Nunnelley for Hatha Yoga, a more gentle approach to movement. Nunnelley received her teacher training and experience from The Yoga and Ayurveda Center in Anniston , AL . She is also a Reiki and Ayurvedic practitioner. Botanical Garden Hayden Conference Center . Flow Yoga – Thursdays - 2,9,16,23 - Ongoing Flow Yoga with Renee Gahan is a course ideal for beginner, intermediate and experienced yoga students. The class focus is on vinyasa or ‘flow yoga’ in addition to the ashtanga primary series of poses designed to increase strength and flexibility. Breathing techniques will also be practiced to reduce stress, induce relaxation and clarity of mind. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat to practice on. Photography Exhibit Continues – through September Artwork by watercolorist Judy Taylor and “Reflections of the Carolina” Upstate photography exhibit by Blue Ridge Arts Council members Ernie and Dede Norungolo, Peter Runge, Danielle Dahl and Fredi and Harvey Hamilton. The exhibit runs through Sept. 30 at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center. Third Annual Harvest Concert Series – Sept. 30 – Oct. 28 Upcountry bluegrass, old-time and gospel musicians will perform at the Reflection Garden at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center for an evening of foot-stomping good times. The Carriage House Café will be open with homemade food and drinks during the shows. Sept. 30 – E-Z Duzit Bluegrass Band of Belton will perform . Fee - $3 per person; children 4 and under are admitted free. Thursdays – 6 – 7:30 p.m. Location: Fran Hanson Discovery Center .
