Touch the Earth: Yolanda Gutierrez’ “The Devotion of the Sunflower” will air on SCETV 2. Clemson professor wins award 1. Yolanda Gutierrez’ “The Devotion of the Sunflower”, a nature-based sculpture program will air on SCETV, Aug. 29, at 4:30 p.m. Gutierrez is an internationally recognized, award-winning artist from Mexico who created the largest nature-based sculpture of her career using native clay, living plants and the landscape as her media. She was assisted by Clemson University faculty, students and community volunteers. The program is narrated by author/commentator Richard Rodriguez and supported with music performed by composer John Serrie. Located on the Clemson University campus, The S.C. Botanical Garden is home to numerous nature-based sculptures created by artists from around the world. 2. Clemson University Associate Director of the Institute on Family and Neighborhood Life and Professor of Psychology Dr. Susan Limber received an award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest – Early Career Award by the American Psychological Association. The award was presented July 31 at the American Psychological Foundation and American Psychological Association awards ceremony. The award was given for her creativity and diligence in the development of safe and humane settings for children and families. Adapting European innovations, Limber has led the design and widespread replication of scientifically based programs and policies for prevention of bullying among schoolchildren in the United States .
