Geology Museum to celebrate International Museum Day CLEMSON -- Come celebrate International Museum Day at the Campbell Geology Museum located in South Carolina Botanical Garden. The open house is free and will be held on May 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The theme for 2004 is "Museums and Intangible Heritage". Participants may learn about nature on the 11 a.m. discovery walk, or have a favorite rock, mineral or fossil identified between 2 and 4 p.m. Demonstrations of fossil preparation and lapidary arts will be held throughout the day. Lapidary art is simply gem and mineral polishing. Children will get a chance to sieve for minerals, create their own impression fossils, or make a shark-tooth necklace. Botanical Garden Visitor Center welcomes featured artists for May and June. CLEMSON -- The Fran Hanson Discovery Center at the S.C. Botanical Garden features a rotating art exhibit by artists from Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties every two months. The featured artists for May and June are Patricia Sink of Salem and Bobby Gosnell of Seneca. Patricia Sink of Salem is a pastel portrait artist who has won several "Best in Show" awards with the Blue Ridge Arts Council. Bobby Gosnell of Seneca is a photographer who photographs colorful landscapes, waterfalls and nature along the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Upstate of South Carolina. Their artwork will be on display May to June. The artists will demonstrate their work and talk with visitors from noon to 2 p.m. on May 15 and again on June 19. Prints, notecards and original artwork are available for sale at the Garden Gift Shop in the Discovery Center.
