John W. Kelly received the award from the National FFA Organization at the Feb. South Carolina FFA-sponsored State Legislators Appreciation Day Ceremony in Columbia. "This is the highest award available to friends and supporters of agricultural education and the FFA at the national level", said J.J. Jones, vice president of the National FFA Organization in 2002-03 and presenter of the award. This award is presented to only a select number of national leaders in agriculture who make a long-term difference in the lives of students by inspiring them to achieve greatness in an agriculture career, according to Jones. The National FFA Organization is made up of more than 460,000 middle schools, high schools, technical colleges and universities students who are preparing for careers in the science, business or technology of agriculture. PSA is a division of Clemson University devoted to fulfilling the land grant mission by serving citizens in five areas - agricultural productivity and profitability, development, environmental conservation, food safety and nutrition and youth development.
