DATE: 7/14/04 Turfgrass field day CLEMSON – A turfgrass field day is planned for Sept. 14 at Clemson University’s Madren Center’s Pavilion. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the pavilion with research
and demonstration tours starting at 8:30 a.m. and continuing throughout
the morning. After lunch, participants will have the option of playing
in the Charles P. Willimon Sr. Memorial Turfgrass Research and Education
Fund-raising Golf Tournament at the Walker Golf Course on campus or visiting
the sports field facilities at the university. The latest research and turfgrass information will be shared by researchers
and educators. “This event should be of interest to golf course superintendents,
assistants, spray technicians, owners, green’s committee members,
sports field managers, professional lawn care operators and university,
technical and vocational students,” said Trent Hale, Clemson University
assistant turfgrass professor. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $40, which includes lunch
and is free for students, which does not include lunch. Participants who plan to play in the golf tournament, the cost is $100
per person and $400 per four person team. The event is sponsored by Clemson University and the S.C. Turfgrass
Foundations. The cost to become a member of the South Carolina Turfgrass Foundation
