Ed Garrison Livestock Arena will host the Eighth Annual Fall Roundup Pro Rodeo on Oct. 21-22. Miss Rodeo USA Joanna Blackwell will be attending this year’s rodeo. Twenty-one year old Blackwell was crowned on Jan. 15 in Oklahoma City, Ok. Cowboys and cowgirls will compete for $10,000 and world championship points. The ultimate goal in rodeo is to win a world championship. The International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA) names world champions at the conclusion of the IPRA in seven events: bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding. bull riding, cowgirls barrel racing, steer wrestling, calf roping and team roping. “The world titles are sought-after and hard-earned, but the title of World Champion All-Around Cowboy is rodeo’s most prestigious,” said Allan Quinn, sponsor of the event. Spectators at the Fall Roundup will get a chance to see the EZ Bend Riders present a grand entry, led by Miss Rodeo USA and 8-year-old Hope Quinn. The arena offers reserved seats, general seating, public restrooms, concessions and lots of vendors for a rodeo souvenir. It has two practice arenas, wash racks, trailer hood-ups, and stalls with shavings available. Local restaurants are within minutes of the area. This year, the Quinn family decided to send some Christmas cheer to the children that were affected by Hurricane Katrina. Children may bring a new Christmas gift for “Katrina’s Kids” to the rodeo. Easy Bend Rodeo will give two complimentary children’s tickets for each gift. Boy Scout Troop #130, sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Easley, will help collect the toys at the rodeo. The rodeo will begin at 8 each evening. Tickets are on sale now through Oct. 20 at Pistol Creek West in Greenville, Rogers Stereo in Greenville and Anderson, Flat Rock Farm and Garden in Liberty, and the Rabbit Box in Central. Tickets may also be purchased at the T. Ed Garrison Arena box office beginning at noon on Oct. 21 and 22. Ticket prices are $15 for all reserved seating. General admission for adults is $13. General admission for ages 3-12 is $6. Children under age 2 are admitted free. Parking is $1. The rodeo is sponsored by Easy Bend Farms of Easley and sanctioned by the IPRA.
