ARCHITECTS FOR CLEMSON UNIVERSITY
SANDHILL RESEARCH & EDUCATION CENTER

NEAL PRINCE + PARTNERS www.neal-prince.com
Neal Prince + Partners is the architect-of-record for the Sandhill Master Plan and the project manager for the Design Team. The Greenville-based architectural and interiors firm has a focused mission: the creation of inspirational places through a shared passion for design excellence.

With its staff of 30 people, the 35-year-old firm has placed a strong emphasis on designing people-oriented spaces that celebrate life, learning and community, such as the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts or the new Hendrix Student Center, both at Clemson University, and the new high-tech teleconferencing center at Michelin. The firm seeks to integrate its site and building projects with the principles of sustainable design, as exemplified by the LEED certification process currently underway at the James B. Duke Library and at Furman Hall, both on the Furman University campus.

SMITHGROUP www.smithgroup.com

Other SmithGroup projects targeting LEED certification include the St. Mary's College New Academic Building, St. Mary's City, MD. (gold); Dan Ryan Woods Environmental Center, Chicago, IL. (platinum); and the Clemson University Institute for Economic and Community Development, Columbia, SC. (platinum).

ANDROPOGON ASSOCIATES www.andropogon.com
Andropogon Associates, a national leader in ecological planning, will provide cutting-edge sustainable design expertise in the landscape planning of the Sandhill Master Plan. Since 1975, Andropogon Associates has been a pioneer in the field of ecological planning and design, seeking to integrate functional needs and aesthetics to create beautiful, provocative and ultimately, sustainable landscapes. Andropogon's design strategies consider the unique aspects of a specific site from its soils, water, and bedrock geology, to its plants, people, and land-use history. This approach capitalizes on a site's resources to demonstrate ecologically sound alternatives to conventional practices.

Andropogon developed the master plan for the Crosby Arboretum in Picayune, MS, which was the country's first ecological arboretum. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy hired Andropogon to do the restoration of Fallingwater which showcases state-of-the-art environmental design standards, and provides an educational lens through which the natural history of the Laurel Highlands is revealed.

SEAMON WHITESIDE ASSOCIATES www.swasc.com
Seamon Whiteside Associates will provide the local expertise needed for the landscape and civil engineering of the Sandhill Master Plan. Since 1985, Seamon, Whiteside & Associates has successfully blended two traditionally separate design elements -- Landscape Architecture and Civil Engineering -- into an exceptional federation of knowledge, skill, and experience. At SWA, these "independent" disciplines have come together into a harmonious collaboration. Translated into the real world of development, this collaboration effectively saves time and money and leads to more cohesive, creative, and workable design solutions.

Seamon Whiteside has extensive experience working with Clemson University, including the comprehensive Master Plan, the design of Military Heritage Plaza, and the master plan of McGinty Mall.
