At Home, Southern Style TV Schedule for week of Oct. 17

CLEMSON -- "At Home, Southern Style," a Clemson University TV program, will air on the South Carolina ETV Network for the week of Oct. 17. Ann Lee McPhail and Jeff Bennett of the Clemson University Communications Center hosts the program each week, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 to 6:45 a.m.

Viewers may ask questions about a subject that was featured on the program by e-mail at athome-L@clemson.edu, by phone at (864) 656-3204 or at the show’s website at: http://AtHome.clemson.edu/.

Monday, Oct. 17 ­ If you start now, you can be in shape by Christmas. The program begins a series on dieting with Clemson Extension Food and Nutrition Professor Libby Hoyle and Dotty Ryan, Southeastern Dairy Association, talking about a game plan for dieting. Then Lisa Wagner, education director for the S.C. Botanical Garden, and Wendy Farnum, Clemson University volunteer, discuss leaves in the y arid and what to do with them.

Tuesday, Oct. 18- Body mass index is a rather complicated thing to figure. Clemson University Food Science and Human Nutrition Professor Beth Kunkel explains it to Host Jeff Bennett. You can also go to the At Home, Southern Style website for an easy way to figure it yourself. Then Clemson University Food Science and Human Nutrition Professor Katherine Cason and her daughter Melissa make breakfast pizza.

Wednesday, Oct. 19 -­ If you cut out 150 calories a day, you can lose weight. Clemson University Food Science and Human Nutrition Professor Beth Kunkel explains how to get started. Then Clemson Extension Food and Nutrition Professor Libby Hoyle and Dotty Ryan, Southeastern Dairy Association, talk about snacks and sporting events.

Thursday, Oct. 20 -- Clemson Extension Agent Kristen Welch gives a great salsa recipe that even children like. And, Clemson University Food Science and Human Nutrition Professor Beth Kunkel talks about the advantages of tea.

Friday, Oct. 21­ What do you do in your yard when you have a spot that is always hot and dry. Clemson Extension Horticulturist Bob Polomski visits with Bill Head, co-owner of Head-Lee Nursery, to discuss this landscaping problem. Then Clemson Extension Agent Rhonda Matthews gives some great ideas for salads.

At Home, Southern Style can also be seen on the South Carolina Channel. For the week of Oct. 17: Clemson Extension Food and Nutrition Professor Libby Hoyle and Dotty Ryan, Southeastern Dairy Association, make a game plan for dieting; Clemson Extension Horticulturist Bob Polomski and Bill Head, co-owner of Head-Lee Nursery, show how to handle a hot and dry location in your yard, and Clemson University Food Science and Human Nutrition Professor Katherine Cason and her daughter Melissa make breakfast pizza.
