DATE: 5/5/05 CONTACT: Elizabeth Hill, (864) 232-4431 WRITER: Diane Palmer, (864) 656-4741 Clemson Extension offers cooking school for kids GREENVILLE – Children will get a chance to learn something useful and practical as well as fun at the “Kids in the Kitchen” cooking school in Greenville. Clemson Extension Agent Elizabeth Hill is offering the classes for youths ages 9-12 years old. Classes will begin June 7 and run through June 16 at the Clemson Extension office, Suite 4300, Greenville County Square, 301 University Ridge, Greenville. The cost is $20 per class. Class hours are 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The class schedule is as follows: June 7 – Triple Play with 3-A-Day - participants will learn how to make a variety of recipes featuring dairy products, including homemade ice cream. June 8 – Cookies - the class will learn how to make cookies and the importance of accurate measurements as they make three different types of cookies. June 9 – 5-A-Day, Spotlight on Fruits and Vegetables - students will learn how to create fun and delicious dishes with traditional and more exotic fruits and vegetables. June 14 – Break the Fast - students will learn how to make nutritious and easy recipes for the most important meal of the day, breakfast. June 15 – Dinner’s Ready - the class will learn how to make heart healthy entrees and side dishes the whole family can enjoy. June 16 - Quick Breads -participants will learn the importance of accurate measurements when preparing baked products such as muffins and quick breads. Each class is limited to 9 students.
