McManus, (843) 479-6851 WRITER: Diane Palmer, (864) 656-4741 Clemson Extension agent elected to national office CLEMSON –- Clemson Extension Agent Michael McManus was elected Southern Regional director for the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents at the national meeting held in Seattle, Wash., Oct. 30 – Nov. 3. McManus serves as 4-H Youth Development agent in Marlboro and Chesterfield Counties. He is past president of the South Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Agents. He has served the state organization as president-elect, vice-president, membership, awards and recognition chair, and chair for the annual meeting planning committee. He’s also been recognized with the National Distinguished Service Award and the Achievement in Service Award. During his career with Clemson Extension he has served on various committees on the local and state level. His campaign slogan was “Mission Matters,” which emphasizes his belief in staying focused on goals that will meet the organization’s mission, according to McManus. McManus will serve a two-year term on the National Board. His responsibilities will include helping to plan the 2006 Joint Council of Extension Professionals Workshop in Nashville, Tenn., serving as the communication link between the National Board and the states in the Southern Region, and helping plan the national meetings in Milwaukee, Wisc. for 2006 and Atlanta, Ga. for 2007.
