Wildlife Federation CLEMSON – Betty Osgood, 4-H volunteer for Berkeley and Charleston counties, received the South Carolina Wildlife Federation’s Outdoor Ethics Award Jan. 22 during the organization’s annual Conservation Awards Banquet at the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia . Osgood has been a volunteer for more than 15 years. A large part of her work has been in natural resource projects. She works annually as coach for both a junior and senior team in the 4-H Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program (4-H WHEP). Her junior teams have maintained a first place finish in the state contest for the past four years. She also helped guide her senior teams to first place finishes for the past three years. “I cannot put into words the emotion and energy Betty puts in her volunteer work with youth,” said Rick Willey, Clemson Extension 4-H natural resource specialist. “She is a true example of how teaching and education ought to be.” The S.C. Wildlife Federation was founded to facilitate effective habitat conservation and respect for outdoor traditions for current and future generations through statewide leadership, education, advocacy and partnerships.
