Your Day radio schedule for week of Dec. 26

CLEMSON -- The following "Your Day" radio programs from Clemson University Radio Productions are scheduled to air on South Carolina ETV Radio for the week of Dec. 27. MONDAY, DECEMBER 26 –-Is Santa adead-weight loss? Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University , talks with economist Holley Hewitt Ulbrich a senior fellow at the Strom Thurmond Institute, about the difference between the purchase price of gifts and what they are worth to the recipients.

Internet webmail options. Eric Rodgers learns about some recent developments in webmail services from podcaster and blogger Phil Yanov, executive director of the GSA Technology Council and president of Thinkhammer Communications.

Weathered Emotions. Beaufort writer Vivian Bikulege, a columnist with the Lowcountry Weekly, shares her experience during a 10-day trip that took her from her new home in South Carolina to the Pennsylvania house in which she was raised and back home again.

Enjoying the classical music experience . Jon Keith visits backstage with Nicholas Smith, Music Director of the South Carolina Philharmonic and some of the musicians from this Columbia group.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27 – Heirloom gardening in the South Carolina Botanical Garden . Eric Rodgers explores the heirloom garden plots of Clemson University Horticulture Professor David Bradshaw, an heirloom gardener and naturalist for the SC Botanical Garden. W EDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28Cracking the Code to Healthier Kids. H ost Libby Hoyle, Clemson Extension food and nutrition specialist in the Clemson University Department of Packaging Science, talks with registered dietician Dottie Ryan of the Southeast United Dairy Association, 800-651-MILK.

Pet Healthcare, Habits, and Needs. A selection of moments taken from recent off-the-air discussions of pet care topics. Dr. Glenn Birrenkott of the Clemson University Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences hosts Dr. Bobby Long of Magnolia Veterinary Clinic in Anderson and Dr. Nathan Craddock of Tiger Town Animal Hospital in Clemson.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29Kathleen Parker and her writing career. Donna London of the Jim Self Center on the Future talks with Camden resident and nationally syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker, following her October presentation in the Clemson University Calhoun Lecture Series. Parker is director of the School of Written Expression at the Buckley School of Public Speaking and Persuasion and is a member of the USA Today board of contributors, writing regularly for the paper's op-ed page.

If the Giant Retired and the Beanstalk was Intact . North Carolina writer Maureen Sherbondy reads her short, short story, a winner of the 2005 Piccolo Fiction Open, a literary component of the Piccolo Spoleto Arts Festival and sponsored by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs.

Personalized medicine. Jon Keith talks with Dr. Erminia Guarneri, medical director and co-founder of the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine, a center focused on advanced lipid management, prevention and early detection of disease, lifestyle change and alternative therapies.

Bicycling and sustainable communities. Eric Rodgers talks with Citadel Economics Professor Don Sparks, a board member of the League of American Bicyclists and president of Charleston Moves, a non-profit organization that seeks to promote walking, running, cycling, and transit to ensure a healthy community and lifestyles .

A little hope. Chesnee writer Pat Jobe has some thoughts on pessimism and hope. His essays are collected in The Best of Radio Free Bubba and in the recently released Return of Radio Free Bubba, both published by Hub City Writers Project.
