Your Day radio schedule for week of Oct. 3  

CLEMSON -- The following "Your Day" radio programs from Clemson University Radio Productions are scheduled to air on South Carolina ETV Radio for the week of Oct. 3. The program airs from noon to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Listeners can call in questions during a "live" show by using the toll-free phone number: 1-888-539-8859.  

MONDAY, OCT. 3 Electronic Communities. Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University, talks with Clemson University professors Greg Hawkins, assistant director and research coordinator at the Jim Self Center on the Future, and Tharon Howard, director of the Master of Arts in Professional Communication program and the Usability Testing Facility in the Department of English. Both professors are involved in the Boys and Girls Club of America ONE Leadership program and electronic community development.  

A wunnerful woman. Roy Scott talks with singer Ralna English, one of "Four Wunnerful Women" from television's Lawrence Welk Show. Ralna English will perform with her singing partner and former husband Guy Hovis on Oct. 12 at the 2005 South Carolina State Fair.  

2004 Harvest Concert Series. Eric Rodgers talks with Public Relations Director Christine Drais, about this week's celebration of the release of a CD compilation of performances from the 2004 concert series held at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center at the S.C. Botanical Garden. The celebration and first concert of the 2005 series takes place Thursday, Oct. 6, with Tugalo Holler followed by a jam session with members of other bands from the CD. The 2004 Harvest Concert Series CD features bluegrass and traditional string musicians: EZ Duzit, Drover's Old Time Medicine Show, Grass Roots Revue, Curtis Blackwell and the Dixie Bluegrass Boys, Tugalo Holler, and Steve McGaha and Dean Watson. CD's will be available at the show.  

TUESDAY, OCT. 4 A live call-in segment on gardening in South Carolina. Sam Cheatham takes calls on gardening issues. Listeners may call in with questions via the toll-free number: 888-539-8859. For additional help with gardening topics visit Clemson Extension's Home & Garden Information Center.   A live call-in segment on insects and other household pests. Ask the bug guys for information and advice about the creatures you've encountered. Charlotte Holt hosts Cam Lay, assistant department head for Pesticide Regulation, and Eric Benson, Clemson Extension urban entomologist. WEDNESDAY, OCT. 5 A live call-in segment on nutrition and weight loss. Libby Hoyle, Clemson Extension food and nutrition specialist in the Clemson University Department of Packaging Science, is joined by national health and wellness expert Ann Kulze,MD, author of Dr. Ann's 10-Step Diet: A Simple Plan for Permanent Weight Loss and Lifelong Vitality. Listeners may call in with questions via the toll-free number: 888-539-8859.   A live call-in segment on pet healthcare issues. Host Glenn Birrenkott of the Clemson University Department of Animal and Veterinary Science is joined by Clemson veterinarian Nathan Craddock of Tiger Town Animal Hospital. THURSDAY, OCT. 6 Workforce housing in coastal South Carolina. Donna London of the Jim Self Center on the Future, talks with John McIlwain, senior resident fellow with the Urban Land Institute, where he holds the J. Ronald Terwilliger Chair for Housing.  

Reality TV in Darlington. Bob Schuster talks with Mark Allen, a producer of Driver X: Race for the Ride, a Brainbox reality series that airs on Discovery beginning on Oct. 30.  

Hospice care. Jon Keith learns about end-of-life decisions and hospice assistance. Note: on Oct. 27, Your Day will broadcast a live call-in program on senior living issues.  

Interviewing the hosts. Bob McAnally talks with Pharmacologist Joe Graedon and Medical Anthropologist Terry Graedon, hosts of public radio's The People's Pharmacy.  

The Duet Dinner. Libby Hoyle, Clemson Extension food and nutrition specialist in the Clemson University Department of Packaging Science, visits with one of a dozen chefs from across the state who will serve as mentors to ProStart culinary arts students for an evening of fine dining on Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Columbia Marriott Hotel, sponsored by the Hospitality Association of South Carolina.
