Your Day radio schedule for week of Sept. 19

CLEMSON -- The following "Your Day" radio programs from Clemson University Radio Productions are scheduled to air on South Carolina ETV Radio for the week of Sept. 19. MONDAY, SEPT. 19 –Students at the Center. Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University, talks with displaced New Orleans natives Jim Randels, a teacher at Frederick Douglass Senior High School and co-director of Students at the Center(SAC), and Greta Gladney, director of the Renaissance Project, about their plans to reconnect with their widely scattered students and former students following Hurricane Katrina.

Socrates Café . Roy Scott learns about a non-profit organization that promotes meaningful discourse on a wide variety of topics when he talks with Christopher Phillips, co-founder of the Society for Philosophical Inquiry and author of Socrates Café and Six Questions of Socrates.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 20 –A live call-in segment on lawn and garden issues. Charleston County Extension Agent F. Brian Smith takes your questions. A live call-in segment on insects and other household pests. Charlotte Holt hosts Cam Lay, assistant department head for Pesticide Regulation, and Eric Benson, Clemson Extension urban entomologist. W EDNESDAY, SEPT. 21 – The safety of our food supply. Libby Hoyle, Clemson Extension food and nutrition specialist in the Clemson University Department of Packaging Science, talks with experts in food defense issues: Susan Barefoot, associate dean of Clemson University Food Safety and Nutrition, Joe Alderman, business coordinator for Operations Technologies in Greenville, and Gordon Meriweather, founder of the Uriah Group.

A live call-in segment on pet healthcare issues. Host Glenn Birrenkott of the Clemson University Department of Animal and Veterinary Science, is joined by Clemson veterinarian Nathan Craddock of Tiger Town Animal Hospital in Clemson. Listeners may call in via the toll-free number 888-539-8859.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 22 – Urban forestry efforts in Charlotte . Donna London of the Jim Self Center on the Future, talks with Don McSween, city arborist for Charlotte, NC, during Planning and Planting: Integrating Urban and Community Forestry in Planning, a November 2004 conference sponsored by the SC Chapter of the American Planning Association, the Davey Resource Group, and the SC Urban and Community Forestry Council.

Still Roaring: Jim Phillips’ Life in Broadcasting . Bob Schuster talks with Jeff Phillips, son of a sports broadcasting legend, Ken Tysiac, author of the new book Still Roaring: Jim Phillips’ Life in Broadcasting, and Phillips’ friend and engineer Jeff Brite.

Right Credo. Beaufort writer Vivian Bikulege, a columnist with the Lowcountry Weekly, reads her short, short story, one of the winning entries in the 2005 Piccolo Fiction Open, a literary component of the Piccolo Spoleto Arts Festival sponsored by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs .

A one-man band . Roy Scott talks with singer-songwriter Keller Williams and we sample selections from his CD, Stage. Williams appears Sept. 25 at Centre Stage at The Plex/Rodeo Café in Charleston , Sept. 27 at Headliners in Columbia , and Sept. 29 at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach .
