CLEMSON LAWN AND GARDEN CALENDAR OFFERS MONTHLY TIPS
CLEMSON – Gardeners across the state – from Zone 7a to
8b – will find monthly tips on improving their flowers, vegetables,
herbs, shrubs, trees and lawns in Clemson University’s first
annual lawn and garden calendar.
The spiral-bound calendar features 9"x12" color photographs
from the S.C. Botanical Garden and monthly gardening tips from Clemson
Extension horticulturist Bob Polomski, author of the popular book Month
by Month Gardening in the Carolinas.
Full-page instructions explain how to prune crape myrtle to preserve
its shape, how to plant a tree or shrub to extend its lifespan, and
when to plant vegetables in the Piedmont, Midlands and Coastal Plain.
The calendar also shows gardeners where to find additional information
on landscaping; growing vegetables, turfgrass, trees and fruits; controlling
pests; composting and protecting water quality.
The Clemson University Lawn & Garden calendar can be purchased
at www.clemson.edu/psapublishing/. Cost is $12.50 each for one to nine
calendars or $7.50 each for orders of 10 or more.
It is published by Clemson University Public Service Activities, which
serves the state’s citizens, communities and businesses through
research, Extension and regulatory services for animal and plant health.
