At Home, Southern Style TV schedule for week of Aug. 7

CLEMSON -- "At Home, Southern Style," a Clemson University TV program, will air on the South Carolina Educational Television Network for the week of Aug. 7. Ann Lee McPhail and Jeff Bennett of the Clemson University Video Production Services host the program each week, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 to 6:45 a.m.

Viewers may ask questions about a subject that was featured on the program by e-mail at athome-L@clemson.edu, by phone at 864-656-3204 or at the shows website at: http://AtHome.clemson.edu/. The questions will be answered on selected programs.

Monday, Aug. 7 ­ Barbara Yon, artist and horticulture expert, will tour “Art In The Garden” in Ridge Spring. Then, Clemson University Food Science and Human Nutrition Professor Beth Kunkel will talk about the simplest way of dieting -- portion control.

Tuesday, Aug. 8 ­ Clemson Extension Agent Rhonda Matthews makes honey mustard chicken. The second half of the show, Lisa Wagner, S.C. Botanical Garden’s educational director, tours a unique potting shed.

Wednesday, Aug. 9 -­ Beth Kunkell, Clemson University food science and human nutrition professor, explains why omega 3 fatty acid is important in our diets and what foods contain it. Bill Head, co-owner of Head Lee Nursery, shows what plants to use in replacing Leland Cyprus.

Thursday, Aug. 10 ­ Clemson Extension Horticulture Specialist Bob Polomski tours

Woodlanders Nursery to look at some very unusual trees with fellow Horticulturist Bob McCartney. Then Elizabeth Hill, Clemson Extension agent, stirs up some Broccoli Lintel Salad.

Friday, Aug. 11 -- By request, we feature the first part of a two part series on grafting Japanese Maples with Clemson Extension Horticulturist David Bradshaw. The second part will be aired on next Monday, Aug. 14.

At Home, Southern Style can also be seen on the South Carolina Channel.
