At Home, Southern Style TV schedule for week of July 17

CLEMSON -- "At Home, Southern Style," a Clemson University TV program, will air on the South Carolina ETV Network for the week of July 17. Ann Lee McPhail and Jeff Bennett of the Clemson University Video Production Services hosts the program each week, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 to 6:45 a.m.

Viewers may ask questions about a subject that was featured on the program by e-mail at athome-L@clemson.edu, by phone at (864) 656-3204 or at the show’s website at:http://AtHome.clemson.edu/ . The questions will be answered on selected programs.

Monday, July 17 – The At Home crew travel to James Island in Charleston to visit with the Hoppman family. The family has an unusual Century plant in their garden. Then Libby Hoyle, Clemson Extension food and nutrition specialist, talks with Gilbert Miller, Clemson Extension agent in Bamberg, about watermelon research.

Tuesday, July 18 ­ At Home continues the tour of Middleton Place with the Vice President for Museums Tracy Todd. They tour the house site and the signature butterfly ponds. Then our favorite "Kid CooK", Melissa Cason, is in the kitchen with Sergio Montenegro, nutritionist for Penn State .

Wednesday, July 19 -­ Carpenter Bees can be a real problem. Clemson Extension Agent C.P. Chihaez talks about what to look for and how to identify these bees. Then Sue Hovey, Clemson Extension agent in Union , gives some canning tips.

Thursday, July 20 ­ The At Home crew travel to Charleston for a visit with Marilyn Peters, Clemson Extension agent in Colleton County , and learn about selecting and cooking crabs.

Friday, July 21 -- Elizabeth Hill, Clemson Extension agent in Greenville , selects a great recipe for Dill Chicken Salad. Then Bob Polomski and Micky Taylor, both with the Clemson University Horticulture Department, discuss water plant research.

At Home, Southern Style can also be seen on the South Carolina Channel.
