At Home, Southern Style TV schedule for week of July 3

CLEMSON -- "At Home, Southern Style," a Clemson University TV program, will air on the South Carolina Educational Television Network for the week of July 3. Ann Lee McPhail and Jeff Bennett of the Clemson University Video Production Services host the program each week, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 to 6:45 a.m.

Viewers may ask questions about a subject that was featured on the program by e-mail at athome-L@clemson.edu, by phone at (864) 656-3204 or at the shows website at: http://AtHome.clemson.edu. The questions will be answered on selected programs.

Monday, July 3 --- It's amazing when an artist turns her attention to gardening. Barbara Yon of Ridge Springs gives a tour of her garden. Then Clemson Extension Food and Nutrition Specialist Libby Hoyle talks with Clemson Extension Agent Sue Hovey about flax.

Tuesday, July 4 --Deborah Thomason, Clemson University youth and family life specialist, talks about how grandparent has take on some new responsibilities. Then we travel to Middleton Place on the outskirts of Charleston, and look at a historic cabin.

Wednesday, July 5 ­ Lisa Wagner, S.C. Botanical Garden education director, shows a garden design and explains why a garden design is so important. Then Clemson Extension Agent Elizabeth Hill whips up a cantaloupe and onion dish.

Thursday, July 6 ­ Clemson Extension Food and Nutrition Specialist Libby Hoyle and Dotty Ryan of the American Dairy Association give pointers for helping overweight children in South Carolina get back to a normal weight and healthier lifestyle. Then Clemson University Food and Nutrition Professor Beth Kunkel discuss artificial sweeteners.

Friday, July 7 -- By special request, we revisit Charleston and the rose garden of Dr. Fletcher Derrick, Clemson University alumni and urologist. Then we go to the S.C. Botanical Garden with Clemson Extension Horticulturist David Bradshaw and find a Black Calla Arum.

At Home, Southern Style can also be seen on the South Carolina Channel.
