At Home, Southern Style TV schedule for week of Nov. 13

CLEMSON -- "At Home, Southern Style," a Clemson University TV program, will air on the South Carolina ETV Network for the week of Nov.13. Ann Lee McPhail and Jeff Bennett of the Clemson University Communications Center hosts the program each week, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 to 6:45 a.m.

Viewers may ask questions about a subject that was featured on the program by e-mail at athome-L@clemson.edu, by phone at (864) 656-3204 or at the show’s website at: http://AtHome.clemson.edu/.

Monday, Nov. 13-- Our guest host for this week is Candace Cummings, Clemson University urban wildlife specialist. Cummings begins with advice about hummingbirds. Then we get a look at reblooming Iris with Bob Polomski, Clemson Extension horticulturist, and iris expert Rae McBride.

Tuesday, Nov. 14 -- We visit Walter P. Rawl and Sons Farm for a visit with Donna Bundrick-Griffin in Pelion. Bundrick-Griffin shows how to use vegetables more easily in our meals. Then we make apple pie in a glass with mother/daughter team Melissa and Katherine Cason. Cason is professor in the department of Food Science and Human Nutrition.

Wednesday, Nov. 15-­ Obesity is a problem all over the U.S. But how do you handle this problem when the overweight person is a teen. Beth Kunkel, Clemson University food science and human nutrition professor, gives us some advice. Then we go to the Heirloom Garden with David Bradshaw, Clemson University naturalist and horticulturist, to learn about peanuts and goober peas.

Thursday, Nov. 16 ­ Ground Hogs seem to be everywhere -- even in the S.C. Botanical Garden. David Bradshaw, Clemson Extension horticulturist, takes a look at the damage they can cause. Then Bob Polomski, Clemson Extension horticulturist, and Bill Head of Head Lee Nursery, select some colorful indoor plants.

Friday, Nov. 17--Our feature from Bob Schuster, Clemson University special projects specialist, is all about muscadines at the Pee Dee Research Center. Then Lisa Wagner, education director for the S.C. Botanical Garden, looks at fall perennials.

At Home, Southern Style can also be seen on the South Carolina Channel. Featured this week: Muscadines at the Pee Dee Research Center with Bob Schuster; vegetables in our diet with Donna Bundrick-Griffin; overweight teens with Beth Kunkel; and ground hogs with David Bradshaw.
