DATE: 9/28/06 CONTACT: Paul Thompson, 864-684-9919 Ext. 112; pthmpson@clemson.edu WRITER: Diane Palmer, 864-656-4741; spalmer@clemson.edu Cat. 3 Commercial Pesticide License training set for Oct. 24-26 ROCK HILL – The Clemson Extension office of York County has organized a Core and Category 3 (Turf and Ornamentals) Commercial Pesticide License Training Oct. 24-26 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. each evening. It will be held at the York County Office Complex in Building 1c at 1070 Heckled Blvd. in Rock Hill . The training is for commercial lawn and landscape professionals. According to S.C. state regulations, as of Jan. 1, 2006 , all persons making pesticide applications in Category 3 must have a valid commercial applicator’s license or be under the direct supervision of a person so licensed. All who are not in compliance with this regulation are in violation of state law. The cost of the training is $65. The core and category 3 study manuals will be provided. The cost is $25, if participants already have the study manuals. The purpose of the training is to prepare participants for the Core and Category 3 Commercial Pesticide License Exam. The exams will be offered on Nov. 14, 15 and 16 in Columbia , Florence and Charleston respectively. The fees for the exams are $75 for the Core and $25 for the Category 3. Exam registration information will be distributed at the training. Pre-registration is required as space is limited to the first 50 applicants. Deadline to register is Oct. 13.
