Six went to North Carolina and five to Georgia. The top selling bull was a polled black Gelbvieh from Cuffy Creek Farm. Baker Brothers Farm of Monroe, N.C. paid $4,100 for him. Weighing 1,950 lbs. on sale day, he was the heaviest Gelbvieh bull ever sold at Edisto. The second high-seller was a Red Angus from Kathwood Plantation. Hudson Red Angus of Broxton, Ga. paid $4,000. Springdale Plantation of Blackville bid $3,700 for a Fox Run Farms Angus, the third highest price paid. Country Boy farms of North Augusta bought the most bulls – three Angus and two Balancers. The sale was the last to be held under a tent, according to Olson. A permanent multi-purpose animal facility will be in place before the 2007 fall sale. Measuring 76 feet by 220 feet, it will include an indoor sale ring and provide holding pens for the bulls on sale day. “We will be able to have programs and demonstrations on practices such as ultrasound examinations and proper vaccination techniques with seating for up to 250 people,” said Olson.
