Roger Francis, Clemson Extension agent in Charleston County, B. Merle Shepard, entomology professor at Coastal Research and Education Center, and J. Powell Smith, entomology professor at Edisto Research and Education Center, were national finalists in the publication category for their publication entitled, “Integrated Pest Management for Cabbage and Collard – A Grower’s Guide”. Bob Polomski, Clemson Extension horticulturist located on the Clemson campus, was a national finalist in the personal column category for his two columns published in The State newspaper and South Carolina Farmer magazine – entitled, “Treat those colorful little insects as friends, not foes” and “Bagworm blights cypress stands.” There were 63 entries in the publication category and 66 in the personal column category. NACAA is an organization of professionals working in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and natural resources, 4-H youth development, community development, aquaculture/seagrant, and related professions.
