DATE: 4/25/06 CONTACT: Paul Thompson, (803) 684-9919; pthmpson@clemson.edu WRITER: Diane Palmer, (864) 656-4741; spalmer@clemson.edu Pesticide calibration and safety workshop scheduled for May 20 YORK– A pesticide calibration and safety workshop is being offered by the Clemson and North Carolina Extension Services on May 20 at the Bartlett Tree Laboratory in Charlotte, N.C. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Cost is $35. Scheduled are three morning sessions and three afternoon sessions where groups will rotate to different stations set up to cover different topics. Topics include: sprayer calibration; spreader calibration; spray drift; personal protection equipment and pesticide storage; new insecticides for problematic pests; and area-wide red imported fire ant management. Six South Carolina and North Carolina pesticide recertification credits will be awarded for the completion of the workshop. Participants are asked to pre-register by May 12.
