Nature of Quilts Exhibit highlights The Fringe Sisters of the Midlands

CLEMSON – The Nature of Quilts Exhibit continues April – June at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center Gallery located in the S.C. Botanical Garden with “The Fringe Sisters of the Midlands” exhibit.

They are a group of nine quilters from the Columbia area who focus on art quilts. Landscapes, geometrics, horsefeathers and other embellishments are part of their works of art.

The exhibit is open, free of charge, Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, call (864) 656-3405 or visit: http://www.clemson.edu/scbg/artists/quilts06/fringe06/fringesisters06.htm to view sample photos from the exhibit.

The remaining 2006 Quilt Exhibit schedule is:

June 23 - July 22: Alaskan Fiber Festival Postcard traveling exhibit.

July - September: Anna Willis and Sheila Gaines, African American Inspirations.

October - December: UpCountry Quilters Guild.

The Nature of Quilts Symposium is scheduled for July 21 – 22. For registration information visit: http://www.clemson.edu/scbg/artists/quilts06/noqinfo.htm. Space is limited, so register early for this special two-day symposium for quilters July 21 - 22.

The Garden is on the Clemson University campus at the intersection of Highway 76 and Perimeter Road. It encompasses 295 acres of gardens, streams and woodlands and is open year-round from sunrise to sunset free of charge.
