CLEMSON -- The following "Your Day" radio programs from Clemson University Radio Productions are scheduled to air on South Carolina ETV Radio for the week of April 3. MONDAY, APRIL 3

New Carolina: the SC Council on Competitiveness. Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University, speaks with George Fletcher, executive director of the SC Council on Competitiveness, during the Feb. 22 Hometown Legislative Action Day, sponsored by the Municipal Association of South Carolina.

Everyday lives of children in South Carolina . Gary Melton, director of the Institute on Family and Neighborhood Life, and his colleague Jim McDonell, director of the Southeastern Center for Family Support and Family Leadership, talk with A. Baron Holmes, project director of South Carolina Kids Count, about the latest data on the state’s child population. Earlier conversations with Holmes can be found in the Your Day Archives for each Monday in March, 2006.

Sports-photographer-turned-children’s-author Charles R. Smith. Michelle Martin, a specialist in children’s and young adult literature in the Clemson University English Department, talks with Charles R. Smith, poet and author of I am America, during his recent visit to Nevitt Forest Elementary School in Anderson.

Service Learning in Performing Arts. Glenn Hare talks with Rick Goodstein, chair of the Clemson University Department of Performing Arts, and two Clemson seniors involved in service learning projects. You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown will be performed at 7 p.m. , April 25-27, at the Strom Thurmond Institute on the Clemson campus. The Legacy benefit concert for the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra takes place at the Handlebar in Greenville on April 13 at 8 p.m.

TUESDAY, APRIL 4

W EDNESDAY, APRIL 5

A live call-in hour to ask about wildlife, fishing, hunting or boating. Mike Willis, communications director for the SC Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), hosts Sandra Hartley from the DNR Boat Titling and Registration office, who will take questions about registration and titling a new or used boat. Capt. Harvin Brock will discuss preparing your boat for launch and provide a safety equipment checklist. And, Willie Simmons, a biologist with the DNR Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division, will have an update on spring turkey season and information on upcoming DNR youth hunts. THURSDAY, APRIL 6

The Spirit of South Carolina . Donna London of the Jim Self Center on the Future, talks with Brad Van Liew of the tall ship project, the Spirit of South Carolina, in Charleston .

The Beef-mobile Wrangler. Roy Scott learns about the beef check-off dollar during the Annual Meeting of the SC Cattlemen’s Association held Jan. 26 at Clemson University ’s Edisto Research and Education Center in Blackville.

Green builders-to-be. Sara Diaz visits with two emerging green builders, coordinators of the recent Green Expo ‘06 held at Clemson University .

Looking back at an Upstate town. Seneca , S.C. Historian Louise Bell talks about her latest coffee table book, Seneca: Visions of Yesterday, available at City Hall in Seneca.

The Duet Dinner. L ibby Hoyle, Clemson Extension food and nutrition specialist in the Clemson University Department of Packaging Science , visits with owner and chef Mike McClaren from the Sidewheeler restaurant in Conway, one of the chefs who served as mentors to ProStart culinary arts students for an evening of fine dining, sponsored by the Hospitality Association of South Carolina.
