MONDAY, AUGUST 28

Leadership South Carolina. Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University , talks with Helen Munnerlyn, executive director of Leadership South Carolina.

John C. Calhoun as a writer. Susan Pass, assistant professor of social studies education at Clemson University, talks with Calhoun scholar Dr. H. Lee Cheek, chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Division and professor of Political Science and Philosophy at Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA. His publications include editing Critical Assessments ofCalhoun, 1811-2000 and authorship of Calhoun and Popular Rule, Calhoun: SelectedWritings and Speeches and Calhoun and Popular Rule: The Political Theory of Disquisition and Discourse.

The first fifteen years of the T. Ed Garrison Livestock Arena. Bob Schuster learns the history and the future of this Clemson University multipurpose facility in a visit with Garrison Arena Director Charles Williams.

First Friday First Annual BBQ Kick-off Cook-off. Rhonda Matthews and Libby Hoyle talk with certified barbecue judges Robert Kennedy and Harry Mays, organizers of an Upstate barbecue competition to be held Friday, Sept. 1, at the YMCA beach in Clemson, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Twenty BBQ cookers from four states will compete.
