MONDAY, DECEMBER 18

The aging of America Dr. Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University, talks with Dr. Fran McGuire, Clemson University alumni professor of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, about America’s changing demographics as the baby boom generation reaches retirement age.
 
An update from Kensington Mansion.  Dyana Daniels talks with Mary Sherrer, director of the Scarborough-Hamer Foundation, about what’s new­and old­for the holidays at Kensington Mansion, a Lower Richland County historic site located in Eastover.
 
The life and career of an Upstate family doctor.  Cris Nelson prompts columnist and longtime Clemson physician Dr. William Hunter to talk about his new book, Tales from Seventeen Mile Hill, a collection of columns originally published in the Anderson Independent Mail. We hear tales of growing up in Anderson , working his way through medical school in Charleston , practicing medicine in the rural Upstate, and raising his autistic grandson Patrick. Dr. Hunter’s columns and a schedule of Calhoun Lecture Series events can be found on the website of the Strom Thurmond Institute.  More information on autism is available at the website of the S.C. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19

What lurks beneath the floors?  The bug guys go on location in the crawlspace under an Upstate home to conduct an inspection for a wood infestation report.  Follow along as Cam Lay, assistant head of the Department of Pesticide Regulation, and Dr. Eric Benson, Clemson University Extension urban entomologist, suit up and slither underneath the joists of a 100-year-old house.  For more insect information visit the Clemson Entomology website.
 
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20
Tis the Season for Electronics.  Eric Rodgers joins Phil Yanov, executive director of the GSA Technology Council and president of Thinkhammer Communications, in a look at the latest trends in consumer electronics. They’ll get advice on shopping for electronics from Greg Daugherty, editor at large for Consumer Reports Magazine; a sales associate at an Upstate retailer will give them a lesson in HDTV choices; they will examine two innovative telephones; and they’ll consider the history and the future of video games with technology expert Leo Laporte, the Tech Guy on KFI-AM 640 in Los Angeles.
 
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21
Wagener Well-Being Program.   Donna London, director of the Jim Self Center on the Future, talks with Mayor Steve Carver of Wagener about a program that keeps tabs on the senior population, which recently earned the town an achievement award from the Municipal Association of South Carolina.
 
Tales from Clemson's 1981 Championship Season.  Bob Schuster talks with Ken Tysiac, author of a new book chronicling the championship year of the Clemson University Tiger football team: Tales from Clemson's 1981 Championship Season.
 
Pampered pets of America . Columnist and President of Furman University Dr. David Shi considers the relationship between pet and owner and proposes adopting a dog or cat from your local shelter.

The South Carolina Muscadine Initiative. Bob Schuster talks with Florence County Extension Agent Jody Martin about the health benefits of the muscadine grape at a recent conference of Clemson University Public Service Activities.
 
Handling the stress of the holidays Dr. Karen Kemper of the Clemson University Department of Public Health Sciences gives us some tips on maintaining our weight during the holidays.
 
Shrimp and Grits.  Clemson Extension Food and Nutrition Specialist Libby Hoyle prepares this Lowcountry favorite with Chef Fred Neuville at Coast Restaurant on Hudson Alley in historic Charleston .
