Your Day radio schedule for week of July 17

CLEMSON -- The following "Your Day" radio programs from Clemson University Radio Productions are scheduled to air on South Carolina ETV Radio for the week of July 17. MONDAY, JULY 17

Tourism in South Carolina. Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs, talks with Brett Wright, chairman of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management at Clemson University.

Mary Emily and Nelson Jackson Day at Myrtle Beach. Bob Schuster talks with Representative Alan Clemmons and with Nelson and Mary Emily Jackson, whose contributions to Horry County have been honored by the South Carolina House of Representatives with Resolution H*4885, designating June 2 as Mary Emily and Nelson Jackson Day.

Values. Some thoughts from Chesnee writer Pat Jobe, author of 365 Ways to Criticize the Preacher and a co-author of The Best of Radio Free BubbaandThe Return of Radio Free Bubba.

An eclectic combination of styles. Craig Stinson, Director of the Folklife and Traditional arts program at the SC Arts Commission visits with members of Grupo Chevere, a Cayce band that performs a blend of Mexican, South American, Puerto Rican, and rap music. From bad to verse. Columnist and Furman University president David Shi reveals his failed aspiration to become a poet and explains his continuing love of the art of poetry.

Poetry duets.Michelle Martin, a specialist in children’s and young adult literature in Clemson University’s English Department, is joined by high school students from the 2006 Clemson Career Workshop who perform poems for two voices.

TUESDAY, JULY 18
A live call-in hour on gardening topics.
Lisa Wagner, director of education for the SC Botanical Garden, is joined by John Bodiford, a horticulturist in the Botanical Garden. THURSDAY, JULY 20

Mixed use development at Daniel Island. Donna London of the Jim Self Center on the Future talks with Matt Sloan, chief operating officer of the Daniel Island Company in Charleston .

Historical maps and other treasures of OconeeCounty. Dyana Daniels travels to the Oconee County Library in Walhalla to visit with Luther Lyle, vice president of the board of directors of the Oconee Heritage Center, a teacher at Riverside Middle School in Pendleton, and chairman of the Oconee Arts and Historical Commission, 415 Pine Street , Walhalla , SC 29691 .

The FFA Experience. Roy Scott talks with Oklahoma native Travis Jett, the 2005-2006 national FFA president, during his visit to the 79 th annual convention of the SC FFA, held June 7-9 at Clemson University.
