DATE: 7/27/07 CONTACT: Rick Willey, (864) 656-3090; rwlly@clemson.edu WRITER: Diane Palmer, (864) 656-4741; spalmer@clemson.edu 4-H Shooting Sports program looking for volunteers to be certified CLEMSON – Clemson University’s 4-H Shooting Sports program has scheduled a instructor certification workshop Aug. 17-19 for anyone interested in being a volunteer for the shooting sports program. The program will be held at the Clinton House Plantation near Clinton. Registration cost is $150 for participants lodging at the Clinton House and $75 for those that plan to commute. Registration deadline is Aug. 8. South Carolina 4-H requires that the instructors must be certified in order to conduct a 4-H Shooting Sports activity. In order to be certified volunteers must attend this training, past a written exam and practicum, and be approved as a 4-H volunteer by Clemson University. The workshop will cover shotgun, rifle, pistol and archery. Registration for first time attendees will start at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 17and must be present for the entire workshop in order to become certified. Lodging and meals will be available at the Clinton House Plantation. The cost of lodging and meals are included in the registration costs.
