Radio Productions staff won a Gold Award for the entry “What Lurks beneath the Floors,” produced for Your Day Radio, in the Audio News and Features category. The Gold Award is the highest honor given by ACE. In this public radio program Eric Rodgers, producer and audio engineer, brought the “bug guys,” Eric Benson and Cam Lay, on location in the crawlspace under a 100-year old home to conduct an inspection for a wood infestation report. Benson is a Clemson Extension entomologist and Lay is a pesticide regulator for Clemson University. Charlotte Holt is host of this public radio show that regularly features segments on insects, spiders and other household pests. Roy Scott is executive producer of Your Day Radio. Debbie Dalhouse, Clemson Public Service communications director, and the media relations staff were honored with a Silver Award for Clemson Impacts in the Newsletters category. The quarterly newsletter is distributed statewide and features articles on research, agriculture, economic and community development, environmental conservation, food safety and nutrition, youth development and other news. Regular contributors are Peter Kent, Tom Lollis and Diane Palmer. Dalhouse is editor and Rachel Mumford is the graphic designer. Tom Lollis, public information coordinator, won a Bronze Award in the Writing for Newspapers category for his entry, “Clemson Professor Believes Horses, Natural Resources Can Co-exist.” Last year he won a Gold Award in the same category. The awards will be presented in Albuquerque, N.M., during the ACE conference in June. ACE develops the professional skills of its members to extend knowledge about agriculture, natural resources and life and human sciences to people worldwide. Members work in universities, government agencies and research organizations in both the public and private sector. END
