Clemson adds Chong to Pee Dee REC faculty

FLORENCE – Clemson University has added a pest-management expert to the faculty at the Pee Dee Research and Education Center at Florence.

“Juang-Horng (J.C.) Chong gives us expertise in the biology, ecology and management of pests on turfgrass and ornamental plants,” said Bruce Martin, interim director at the Pee Dee REC.

A native of Malaysia, Chong holds a B.S. degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Arizona and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in entomology from the University of Georgia.

Prior to coming to Clemson, he worked in Miami, Fla. for almost two years as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Florida and the USDA-APHIS, implementing biological control of invasive pests in South Florida.
