Blond Simmons, nutrition educator assistant with the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) in Aiken County, received the Outstanding Service Award for paraprofessionals. Her co-workers nominated her for the award because of her high level of competence, professionalism and extra effort she puts forth to make EFNEP the best program in her county. She has been an employee of Clemson for 20 years. Sandra Brown received the Outstanding Service Award for administrative support. Some of her accomplishments were: she helped county administrative assistants throughout the state with financial issues; provided on-site training in county offices on accounting practices; and was a member of the administrative assistant handbook committee. She was nominated by her co-workers. Two teams won high honors. The first place award went to Cal Sawyer, John Hayes, and Dan Hitchcock, professors in the Department of Agriculture and Biological Engineering and Al Littlejohn, Jeff Bennett and Glenn Spake of Video Production Services for their work with the Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector Program. Second place team award went to County Extension Agents Alma Harris and Darlas Moore for their work with the Lee and Darlington County 4-H20 day camp. Awards are given each year to deserving employees who have demonstrated dedication, interest, enthusiasm and attitude in successfully accomplishing the mission in their particular field of Extension in which he or she is employed.
