It could become a source of income, and Clemson University has scheduled a workshop for Feb. 15 at the Pee Dee Research and Education Center near Florence to show how it’s done. “This is for farmers, forest landowners and other private landowners who are interested in diversifying their land management operations to derive additional income from enterprises based on natural resources,” said Greg Yarrow, professor of wildlife ecology and Extension wildlife specialist at Clemson University. Workshop participants will learn how to manage and market the resources on their land, where to find cost-share programs, how to reduce liability, and details about different types of enterprises. Natural resource enterprises include a variety of activities such as fee hunting, fee fishing, horse trail riding, wildlife watching, agritourism, bed and breakfast operations and more. The day-long workshop begins with registration at 8 a.m. The program starts at 8:30. Registration is $25 and the deadline to reserve a place is Feb. 12. Resource materials, lunch and refreshments will be provided. For more information or to register online go to www.clemson.edu/extfor.
