DATE: 1/17/07 CONTACT: Brian Callahan, 864-878-1394; bcallah@clemson.edu WRITER: Diane Palmer, 864-656-4741; spalmer@clemson.edu Clemson Extension offers Master Tree Farmer classes CLEMSON – Landowners with forested property can learn how to prepare for the next owner during a Clemson Extension Service program called the Master Tree Farmer mini-series. “Preparing for the Next Owner” will run Feb. 20, 27 and March 6. The classes will be broadcast live from the studios at Clemson University via satellite and Internet to locations throughout the south. They will run from 7 to 10 p.m. eastern standard time. Cost is $100, which includes a notebook, CD and cap. The guest fee is $45. To register, call your local Clemson Extension office or visit online at: http://www.mastertreefarmer.net. Topics will include: understanding heir property and having a clear title; basics on how real estate passes; basic estate planning with a focus on forestland options; intergenerational transfer strategies; conservation easements; charitable giving; generation skipping options; and shared ownerships and family limited partnerships and property transfer issues. The sessions will be hosted by regional and national experts and will include the opportunity for audience participation via a toll free number and internet call in options.
