Clemson Extension agent wins national award

CLEMSON – Amanda McNulty, Clemson Extension agent in Sumter County, was honored with a communication award from The National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA) on July 17.

She received the award during the annual NACAA meeting held in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

McNulty was the national winner in the feature newspaper article division. She writes an article twice a month for The Item, a daily newspaper for Sumter County. She was a national finalist in the radio competition for 45 second horticulture segments which are aired statewide on SCETV radio.

Entries are judged at the state level then the regional level and finally the winning entries from the four regions are reviewed for a national winner.

The Bayer Corporation, which manufactures agricultural chemicals as part of its product line, sponsors the event by providing monetary awards to the national finalists and first place winners.

NACAA members are Extension educators and professionals who work in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and natural resources, 4-H youth development, community development, administration, aquaculture/sea grant as well as other areas.
