CLEMSON -- The following "Your Day" radio programs from Clemson University Radio Productions are scheduled to air on South Carolina ETV Radio for the week of April 23. MONDAY, APRIL 23, 2007
Policy issues and higher education. Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University , talks with Catherine Watt, director of the Alliance for Research on Higher Education at the Strom Thurmond Institute.

Keeping Kids Safe: What Have We Learned? Gary Melton, director of the Institute on Family and Neighborhood Life at Clemson University , talks with David Wolfe, RBC chair in Children's Mental Health at the University of Toronto and Jill McLeigh, a research associate from the Strong Communities program.

Mystery writer Kathryn Wall. Roy Scott talks with Kathryn Wall, the author of In for a Penny and six subsequent mystery novels featuring Bay Tanner. Sanctuary Hill will be available in May. Wall was a participant in the 2007 SC Book Festival held Feb. 24-25 in Columbia .

A Martha Graham original. Glenn Hare talks with Miriam Barbosa, assistant professor of dance at the University of South Carolina , about the upcoming performance of Martha Graham's Sketches from Chronicle (1936), on Saturday, April 28, at the Koger Center in Columbia .

A threat to the Hemlock. Clemson University Entomologist Eric Benson talks with Laurie Reid of the SC Forestry Commission about the hemlock wooly adelgid insect that is devastating the hemlock trees in the foothills and mountains of the Southeastern United States .

TUESDAY, APRIL 24, 2007
Trees, gardens, landscapes and more. Clemson Extension Agents Paul Thompson of York County , and Kristin Welch of Spartanburg County , co-host from ETV Carolinas studios in Rock Hill . Arboriculture Researcher Tom Smiley from the Bartlett Tree Research Laboratory in Charlotte , NC will discuss trees and other landscaping topics. Julie Fox and Yvonne Caudill from Wilson’s Nursery, will cover plant selections for container gardening and colorful plants for the hot months of summer. And Clemson Extension Horticulturist Bob Polomski will introduce us to Textraw, a synthetic pinestraw that contains recycled materials.

A live hour of discussion on pet healthcare issues. Call in to talk with host Glenn Birrenkott of the Clemson University Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences and his guest, Anderson Veterinarian Dr. Bobby Long of Magnolia Veterinary Hospital in Anderson . Empowering local governments Donna London, director of the Jim Self Center on the Future, talks with State Senator Phil Leventis who received a distinguished service award at the 2007 Hometown Legislative Action Day conducted by the Municipal Association of South Carolina.

A live call-in segment on health and fitness with SC First Lady Jenny Sanford. Abbeville County Extension Agent Rhonda Matthews hosts our Governor’s wife in a discussion of the Healthy S.C. Challenge Initiative and the upcoming Family Fitness Challenge Bike Ride and 5k Run/Walk on May 5 th in which the first family will take part.
