CLEMSON -- The following "Your Day" radio programs from Clemson University Radio Productions are scheduled to air on South Carolina ETV Radio for the week of July 9. MONDAY, JULY 9, 2007
Restoration and protection of our coastal waters. Dr. Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs, speaks with Dr. Gene Eidson, a nationally recognized restoration ecologist recently named to lead environmental efforts at Clemson University ’s Restoration Institute (CURI). Professor Eidson is the founder and president of Southeastern Natural Sciences Academy in Augusta , GA.

The French baguette. As Bastille Day approaches on July 14, culinary columnist and chef Christian Thormose gives us a lesson in the history and uses of a popular French bread. Thormose is Executive Chef at Seasons By the Lake restaurant located at the Madren Conference Center in Clemson, SC. Get a recipe for French Bread Toast.

Steam cooled computers? Eric Rodgers talks with Phil Yanov, executive director of the GSA Technology Council and president of Thinkhammer Communications about a new mechanism for cooling computers and other electronic equipment.

Waylon Jennings and outlaw country. Glenn Hare learns about the outlaw movement that took place in country music in the late 60’s and throughout the 70’s led by the renegade Waylon Jennings. Music history professor Mark Hosler of the Clemson University Department of Performing Arts describes the movement and presents selections from Waylon Jennings, Willy Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and others.

What lurks beneath the floors? The bug guys go on location in the crawlspace under an upstate home to conduct an inspection for a wood infestation report. Follow along as Cam Lay, assistant head of the Department of Pesticide Regulation, and Dr. Eric Benson, Clemson University Extension Urban Entomologist suit up and slither underneath the joists of a 100-year-old house. Why We Fight. Donna London of the Jim Self Center on the Future talks with documentary filmmaker Eugene Jarecki about his film, Why We Fight, which won the 2005 Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival . Jarecki addressed the Clemson University Calhoun Honors Colloquium on April 10, 2006 .

The progress of the personal computer. Eric Rodgers talks with Phil Yanov, executive director of the GSA Technology Council and president of Thinkhammer Communications about the recent history of the personal computer.

Life at the Water’s Edge. An encore broadcast of Bob Schuster’s conversation with the late Dr. Lin Roth, editor of Life at the Water’s Edge: a Shoreline Resident’s Guide to Natural Lakeshore and Streamside Buffers for Water Quality Protection in South Carolina, a collaborative publication of the Clemson University Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, the Cooperative Extension Service, and the Belle W. Baruch Institute of Coastal Ecology and Forest Science. The Clemson Extension Service in Pickens County, in partnership with Duke Energy and the Friends of Lake Keowee Society, is offering a workshop on “Plant Life at the Water’s Edge,” on Saturday, July 21, at Duke Energy’s World of Energy.
