MONDAY, MARCH 12, 2007
Immigration and voting trends. Bob Becker, director of the Strom Thurmond Institute on Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University , talks with Dr. Laura Olson of the Clemson University Political Science Department.

Coastal development in South Carolina . Bob Schuster speaks with Gene Eidson, a nationally recognized restoration ecologist recently named to lead environmental efforts at Clemson University ’s Restoration Institute (CURI). Professor Eidson is the founder and president of Southeastern Natural Sciences Academy in Augusta , Georgia , and attended a recent meeting of the Legislative Coastal Caucus held at the Baruch Institute for Coastal Ecology and Forest Science.

Container gardening . Clemson Extension Horticulturist Bob Polomski, author of Month by Month Gardening in the Carolinasproposes this solution to limited garden space.

Book Crossing. Bob McAnally talks with Amy Romanczuk about a method of sharing books by “releasing them into the wild.” Book Crossing is the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise.

Poet and author Nikki Giovanni. Roy Scott talks with American poet Nikki Giovanni during the annual SC Book Festival held Feb. 24-25 in Columbia .

Writing under the influence of coffee. Some thoughts from writer Pat Jobe, co-author of The Best of Radio Free Bubba and Return of Radio Free Bubba, both published by Hub City Writers Project. Pat Jobe is the host of the Independent Television program The Connection.

Thresholds and Beyond - Art and Spirituality in an age of Religious Contention .   Donna London, director of the Jim Self Center on the Future, talks with Eleanor Heartney, president of the American section of the International Arts Critics Association, a contributing editor to Art in America, and the author of Critical Condition: American Culture at the Crossroads and Postmodernism. She addressed the 2006 Clemson University President’s Colloquium on the theme: The Difficult Unity of Inclusion in November 2006.

Niche markets for South Carolina growers. Bob Schuster attends the RAIN III conference on “Value Added Products for Retained Profit” and speaks with Florence County Extension Agent Jody Martin, secretary of the Carolina Agri-Solutions Growers Association .

Healthy Smiles of Spartanburg. Jon Keith talks with David Ruston, executive director of Healthy Smiles of Spartanburg, about this non-profit organization of professionals representing dental health, public health, county school systems, nonprofit organizations, parents and caregivers, government agencies, and physicians and other health providers that provides dental care to underprivileged children.

Understanding global warming. Peter Kent talks with Marine Biologist Dr. Andy Mount of the Clemson University Biological Sciences Department, about how he conveys the complexity of the issue of global warming to university students.

Wadmalaw Onion and Blue Cheese Tart. Clemson Extension Food and Nutrition Specialist Libby Hoyle visits with Chef Tim Armstrong of Old Village Post House restaurant located at 101 Pitt Street in Mt. Pleasant .
