Substantive Research Interests
- Mentoring and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB)
- Individual differences, motivation, and OCB (see Organ, Podsakoff, & MacKenzie, 2005)
- Formal/informal mentoring (see e.g., Ragins & Cotton, 1999) and use of alternative communication modes for mentoring (see e.g., Ensher, Huen, & Blanchard, 2003)
- Stereotypes and stereotyping
- Stereotype threat (see e.g., Cullen, Hardison, & Sackett, 2004; Steele & Aronson, 1995)
- Prescriptive stereotypes (see e.g., Heilman, 2001)
Quantitative Research Interests
- Mediation (i.e., inferences involving a causal chain among variables) (Stone-Romero & Rosopa, 2004, 2008) and interactions in linear models and linear mixed models
- Heteroscedasticity in linear models
- Weighted least squares as a general remedy for heteroscedasticity (Carroll & Ruppert, 1988; Cook & Weisberg, 1999; Neter, Kutner, Nachtsheim, & Wasserman, 1996; Rosopa, 2006)
- Heteroscedasticity-consistent covariance matrices and other ‘sandwich estimators’ as useful remedies (Cribari-Neto, 2004; Long & Ervin, 2000; Rosopa & Wolf, 2008)
- Using Monte Carlo simulations (Casella, 2004) to evaluate the properties of new (or existing) psychometric or statistical methods
Current Research
Regarding Dr. Rosopa's substantive research interests, he currently has two projects underway. One involves mentoring (Stage: writing) and the other involves prescriptive stereotypes and helping behavior (Stage: data analysis). Regarding his quantitative research interests, he currently has five projects underway. One involves the topic of mediation (Stage: under review). The remaining projects are either in the data collection or research design stage. Dr. Rosopa continues to collaborate with various researchers, including Herman Aguinis (University of Colorado-Denver), Brian Kim (Occidental College), Kim Smith-Jentsch (University of Central Florida), and Gene Stone-Romero (University of Texas-San Antonio).
