Benghal Dayflower State Survey Report

Benghal dayflower (Commelina benghalensis) has been found in commercial production areas in South Carolina. Anytime you are in an agricultural area please take a moment to survey for BDF. The crops of immediate concern are cotton, peanut, soybean and corn. Look carefully along the edges of the fields paying special attention to the farm roads and points where equipment would enter and exit the field. Fill out the following form as completely as possible.

Any positive reports will be followed up on by nursery staff. If you see suspect plants, please send photos to slong2@clemson.edu.
