Cruickshank Hosta Garden

Cruickshank Hosta Garden

What began as the passion of a devoted family has become one of the most visited areas of the South Carolina Botanical Garden. Charles and Betty Cruickshank donated years of time and lots of love to developing a hosta garden in the Senn Horticultural Gardens. Along with a wide variety of hundreds of hostas, perennial companion plants highlight the lush shade garden and frame a cascading waterfall and wooden bridge.  Among many other awards given for the extensive collection of hosta plants, the Charles and Betty Cruickshank Hosta Garden was recognized in 2004 as an official American Hosta Society Display Garden.

To find the Cruickshank Hosta Garden, walk by the Caboose and veer right to go through the picnic area and over the stone bridge. Veer right at the first trail to enjoy the lush greens and shady serenity of the waterfall. On Tuesday afternoons, you may even find Chuck and Betty, along with other volunteers, hard at work maintaining their beloved plants.
