Designing an Effective Service-Learning Course and Meaningful Syllabus
The Clemson University Service Alliance and the Office of Teaching Effectiveness & Innovation (OTEI) are pleased to co-sponsor two Web broadcasts, each followed by a brief discussion, on teaching service-learning courses. These broadcasts are for both faculty who are new to service-learning and those who want to enhance the success of their service-learning classes. Graduate students and staff are also welcome to attend.
The broadcasts will be facilitated by Maureen Shubow Rubin, Director of Undergraduate Studies at California State University, Northridge and founding director of the Center for Community-Service Learning (bio below). The discussions during the last half hour will be led by Kathy Woodard, Director of Clemson's Service Alliance, and Dr. Linda Nilson, Director of OTEI.
To register for either or both events (they require separate registration), go to http://dprod5.clemson.edu/clereg/CourseListingUpcoming.asp , log in (using your employee ID), scroll down to the date, and click on the Web broadcast. If you need to drop the class after you have registered, please follow the same procedure.
If you cannot make these dates and times, you can watch each recording as early as a week after the Web broadcast.
